Reporting to the Executive Medical Directors – HealthPartners Care Group (HPCG), the Senior Medical Director-Neuroscience Service Line (SMD-NS) is ultimately responsible and accountable for the safety, quality, value and efficiency, strategy and growth of care delivered in all areas within the HPCG Neuroscience Service Line. Senior Medical Directors (SMDs) are role models in partnering with other HPCG and organizational leaders across the HealthPartners organization to continuously improve clinical outcomes and fulfill patient and family needs consistent with HealthPartners mission, vision and values.
Teamed with the Vice President - HPCG Neuroscience Service Line in a leadership dyad, the SMD-NS is responsible for clinical quality and safety, strategic growth operations and financial performance of patient care delivery, services, and products within the service line. Because leadership and management of surgical facilities falls under the purview of the Surgical Services dyads, this team will matrix with the SMDs of Surgical Services and their VP dyad partners for surgical facility issues, and will collaborate with all other SMDs and VPs regarding care group and organizational goals. In addition, the SMD-NS will partner with the Vice Presidents for Medical Affairs at each major hospital site, and will function as the main relationship contact between HealthPartners and the appropriate University of Minnesota neuroscience departments.
Areas of responsibility include: Neurology, Stroke Program, Neurosurgery, Spine Care, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Interdisciplinary Pain Clinics, Chiropractic (west), and HealthPartners Neuroscience Center and Struthers Parkinson’s Center

Appropriately board certified Neuroscience Clinician (MD, DO) in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pain or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Must be currently practicing, as continued clinical practice is important and expected.
A minimum of 8 years’ physician practice experience, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a group practice leadership role.
Reputation for excellent clinical skills.
Excellent communicator with proven ability to build consensus, trust, and open communication, promotion of diverse perspectives, mutual support and empowerment.
Track record of working effectively with a dyad partner within an integrated care delivery system.
