The Professional Counselor II, under general supervision, provide intake, counseling and psychotherapy, diagnosis testing, psycho-educational and psychotherapy groups, crisis intervention, referral, consultation, and outreach services to Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) students. Provide consultation and referral to PVAMU staff and faculty. Supervise doctoral and master’s level interns.
Provide individual counseling and psychotherapy.
Provide psycho-educational and psychotherapy groups.
Provide intake interviews.
Provide crisis intervention.
Supervise Student Counseling Service staff in absence of the Director.
Provide outreach services.
Assist the Director with policy-making.
Assist the Director with program planning and implementation.
Assisting in developing and implementing standard operational procedures for Student Counseling Service.
Assist Director in hiring staff.
Provide training services.
Participate in University and Student Affairs Division committees.
Required Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or other specialty related to job function.
One year of related experience in a College counseling center or other relevant setting.
Licensed in the State of Texas
Preferred Education and Experience:
Doctoral degree in psychology or counseling with licensed professional counseling or psychologist licensure in the state of Texas.
Two to five years experience working in a college counseling center with multicultural populations.
Have obtained supervisory licensure.
