The Division of Addiction Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine and the Inova Health System invite applications for a faculty position in psychiatry at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, to begin as soon as possible.
This faculty member will hold a full-time position in the VCU School of Medicine and hold memberships in the VCU Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies and the Inova Research Center. The responsibilities of this position include carrying out translational and clinical research in addictions and will provide clinical coverage at Inova Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services Program and participate in teaching of residents and medical students. The position is located at Inova Fairfax Hospital (IFH) on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia. The IFH is a teaching facility with extensive translational and clinical research infrastructure support. IFH offers laboratory and informatics support, inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities, 24-hour on call clinical research coordinators, and a centralized research center. Support will also be provided by VCU School of Medicine, located in Richmond, Virginia. VCU has well-equipped and staffed clinical research facilities including the Collaborative Advanced Research Imaging facility, which houses a new research-dedicated 3T MRI scanner, outpatient research treatment facilities, and human behavioral laboratory facilities.
Applicants should have a U.S. medical degree or equivalent (M.D. or D.O.), with licensure (or license-eligible) to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and DEA licensure. Post-doctoral credentialing in addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry, and an active interest and background in clinical work in addictions are required. The Addiction Psychiatry Division has close ties and/or collaborations within the VCU School of Medicine with Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Neurology.
