Job Title: Clinical Manager
Reports To: Vice President of Program Services
Based at: McHenry Shelter
Status: Full Time
Job Purpose: To provide high quality, evidence based mental health couseling and supportive services to women and children in the Home of the Sparrow shelter, housing and Rapid Re-Housing programs.
Meet with Vice President of Program Services for clinical supervision at least monthly.
Attend and fully participate in all staff and client team meetings.
Attend and fully participate in all scheduled trainings required by agency.
Uphold Home of the Sparrow rules, as defined in Shelter Rules document.
Conduct comprehensive Mental Health Assessments for adults & children using the intake assessment form. The initial assessment must be completed within 30 days of move-in, and a yearly assessment must be completed annually.
During times of high volume, assist Intake Department as needed. In addition to completing intake assessments, return/answer intake calls, conduct phone interviews, and assist with emergency situations.
Design and follow Individual Plan with client, focusing on strengths of the individual. Ensure that lapses in IPs do not occur.
Provide evidenced-informed therapeutic interventions (individual, children, family and group).
Provide case management when indicated including medication management, follow-up with doctors, Psych Hospital and Outpatient/Inpatient Substance Abuse Intake/discharges and any other coordinated care services as needed.
Document all interventions in resident charts.
Adhere to Shelter Guidelines on all documentation.
Follow emergency procedures as needed.
Relate positively to the community, representing HOS in a positive manner at all times.
Work with Program Services Team to provide high quality mental health services in the shelter and community settings.
Assigns Shelter Staff members to organize and facilitate Book Buddies Program, Child Care Volunteers for Thursday night programming, and any other necessary volunteers as it pertains to a client’s IP.
Provide clinical consultation/training to Program Services staff.
Work closely with Shelter Manager on client issues.
Required to work evenings and weekends to meet the client’s needs and provide staff supervision.
Participate in staff on-call rotation.
Complete all required data reporting, file audits and tracking of client outcomes as required.
Enter client services into MHB billing system and achieve set billing targets.
Coordinate and oversee weekly client group meeting topics and schedule volunteer presenters.
Oversee and handle any issues revolving around client 30-day notices, crisis intervention/de-escalation & staff/client conflict resolution.
Provide coverage for Shelter Manager as needed.
Supervises Shelter Staff;
Interviews and hires for open positions as it pertains to the shelter;
Coordinates new hire training using the Shelter Staff Training Manual. Assigns components of new staff training to Shelter Staff as needed;
Meets with Shelter Staff members for supervision at least monthly, or more frequently if indicated;
Conducts annual performance evaluations for Shelter Staff Members;
May be required to supervise Interns
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong clinical experience working with Trauma and Domestic Violence clients;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Strong background in mental health programs and high barrier populations
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds;
Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and reaching are required;
Sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time
Preferred Master Degree in Counseling/Social Work;
3 to 5 years experience providing staff supervision;
Maintain a current clinical license through the state of Illinois if applicable;
