The laboratory of Dr. Christopher Fetsch (Dept. of Neuroscience) at Johns Hopkins University is actively seeking an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to study the neural mechanisms of multisensory decision making, self-motion perception, and metacognition in nonhuman primates. Details of specific projects are flexible, but would typically involve multi-region, multi-electrode recordings and causal manipulations of neural activity during performance of sophisticated behavioral tasks. Specific techniques available include high-density electrophysiology, microstimulation, pharmacological manipulations, and optogenetics, as well as delivery of arbitrary three-dimensional motion stimuli with a 6-degree-of-freedom platform and wide-field visual display (virtual-reality / flight simulator apparatus). We are equipped to perform rigorous psychophysics in human subjects, and computational modeling/theory is an integral part of most projects. Candidates should have a PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field. Relevant research experience is required, including neurophysiology (ideally but not necessarily in nonhuman primates), operant behavior/psychophysics, computation and data analysis using MATLAB, Python, or equivalent. The Zanvyl Krieger Mind/Brain Institute (MBI) is a free-standing institute at Johns Hopkins University with strong connections to the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine.
