We have a Part-Time Licensed Mental Health Therapist open at located at our Knoxville Clinic in Knoxville, Iowa. The Knoxville IA location provides medication assisted treatment as well as substance use disorder treatment through a certified treatment provider. UCS Healthcare (UCS) is a CARF-accredited, non-profit health care organization based in Des Moines, Iowa, with additional offices in Ankeny. UCS offers a variety of health care services including outpatient substance use disorder counseling in individual and group settings, mental health therapy, and psychiatric services; medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opiate addiction and primary health care in an integrated environment.

UCS Healthcare is currently seeking a Part-time Mental Health Therapist for our mental health clinic at Knoxville, Iowa. This position reports to the Clinical Supervisor. In this role, the candidate will assist patients in achieving goals through counseling and psychotherapeutic services. Diagnose and treat mental health and substance use disorders. Apply psychotherapeutic theories and techniques in the delivery of services to individuals, couples and families.
Conduct mental health assessments and provide treatment and make referrals to appropriate mental health, psychiatric, and other services as necessary.
Deliver individual, group, couples, and family interventions and psychotherapy.
Work with patients and families who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical and social problems to coordinate care.
Develop and modify treatment plans according to changes in patient status.
Establish and maintain a productive working relationship with patients, staff and representatives of community agencies.
Plan, coordinate and implement follow-up or aftercare services.
Perform crisis interventions and referrals.
Provide consultation to the treatment team regarding the psychosocial needs of atients and the impact of psychological conditions on physical and behavioral health.
Maintain confidentiality of patient records and complete all documentation accurately and promptly.
Specific Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of human development and behavior.
Understanding of biopsychosocial and cultural factors affecting, presenting concerns and treatment.
Effectively work with persons with complex, co-occurring disorders, particularly substance use disorders.
Knowledge of medical and mental health diagnoses disabilities and treatment procedures including acute chronic and traumatic illnesses/injuries; common medications and their effects/side effects; and medical terminology.
Strong working knowledge of evidence supported treatments in the area of practice. Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and good judgment in the delivery of services and interactions with patients and staff.
Conduct all business by legal and ethical codes of conduct.
Proficient written and oral communication skills demonstrate satisfactory skills in digital record keeping scheduling and word processing.
Must excel in a team environment, maintain a positive work attitude, and adhere to agency policy and procedures.
Ability to independently schedule and direct day to day
A minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited academic institution in the areas of social work, or mental health counseling.
Independent practitioners must maintain an active, unrestricted Iowa professional license appropriate to his/her scope of practice to remain qualified for employment. Acceptable licenses include LISW or LMHC.
Providers requiring supervision as part of their licensing, (e.g., MSW) will receive direct supervision overseen by the agency, and the provider will adhere to all requirements of the licensing board.
