We are looking to hire three full time, school therapist who will be providing services in local schools.
JOB SUMMARY: The Therapist will schedule, screen and complete intake interviews with clients. The therapist will also provide individual, families, and group therapy to children and adolescences. Therapy sessions will take place in the school or at the clients’ homes in the District of Columbia. The therapist will work as a part of the school Behavioral Health Coordination Team. Employees in this position are considered essential personnel and may be required to work special events and critical incidents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform intake process for all clients and provides appropriate referrals. • Develop treatment plans to establish goals and objectives for client treatment. • Define treatment problems based on intake assessment and diagnosis, addressing behaviors that contributed to the referral for services. • Write objectives in clear, measurable terms, person centered treatment planning. • Provide therapeutic treatment to assigned caseload consistent with the written treatment plan. • Conduct therapy sessions, using modalities and methods appropriate to the client and the program, to identify and discuss problems, identify solutions, work with clients to implement solutions, and model appropriate behaviors. • Provide crisis management services as necessary. • Maintain client documentation per required policies and procedures including assessments, contact notes, weekly billing, monthly progress notes, biannual treatment plan updates, all other clinical documentation related to the care of the client. • Coordinate treatment with school based personnel and families. • Participate on the school’s Early Intervention Team and the Behavioral Health Coordination Team. • Participates in continuous quality improvement (CQI) process, ensuring compliance with best practice standards, contract requirements, and agency practices and procedures. • Support families by linking them to resources, including insurance. • Intervene in emergency and urgent situations and assist with following the school’s emergency protocol. • Participate in staffing regarding crisis plan and care of clients. • Consult with psychiatrist to provide follow-through in treatment of clients and communicate with multi-disciplinary team regarding treatment planning. • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling from an accredited college or university. • Current D.C. license in specific discipline i.e. LICSW, LGSW, LCPC, LGPC. • At least 2 years direct service experience in a mental health setting. • Experience providing counseling to children, adolescences, and adults. • Experience providing outreach to community groups/ parents.
SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. • Basic computer skills in MS Office Software, web browsing, and navigation of MS Windows platform; or a willingness to be trained on developing computer skills. • Demonstrated clinical judgment and leadership skills • Demonstrated cultural competence and cultural responsiveness • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing. • Ability to identify and resolve problems. • Ability to work with diverse staff and client population. • Ability to multitask and stay calm in a stressful environment.
