This Nurse Practitioner provides/enhances patient care based on advanced nursing practice principles in area of area of psychiatry and behavioral health at Sharp Grossmont Hospital. This position is part of a psychiatric liaison team that reports to the Director of Behavioral Health. The position is responsible for the psychiatric evaluation and assessment of patients in the Emergency Department. Dispositions to the appropriate level of care are completed in consultation with a psychiatrist on call as well as the Emergency Department physician.
The position is located in a 500+bed acute care facility that includes a 46 bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. The Intake Department at Sharp Grossmont Hospital performs clinical assessment and patient evaluations in the Emergency Department and facilitates patient admission to the Behavioral Health Unit. The appropriate level of care and dispositions from the ED are done in consultation with a psychiatrist on call as well as the Emergency Department physician. We also have Psych NP openings for different shifts, as well as per diem opportunities.The Sharp Grossmont Behavioral Health team consists of a dedicated staff of experienced professionals who care for the patient from admission through discharge. The team includes nurses, licensed clinical social workers, licensed marriage family therapists, psychiatrists, pharmacists and case managers.

Current unencumbered California Registered Nurse licensure
Current unencumbered California NP certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
Prior Psych/Behavioral Health NP experience
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
DEA Controlled Substance Registration
Prior experience as a NP in the acute care setting
One year NP experience
Three to Five years’ acute care RN experience in specialty (Psych/Behavioral Health) highly desired
