Villanova University is accepting applications for a Staff Psychologist, Student Athlete Specialist. This position will provide all services provided by staff psychologists at the University Counseling Center, including counseling, evaluation, crisis intervention, consultation, referral, outreach, after-hours on-call, and other services as needed. The individual in this position will specialize in serving the counseling needs of student athletes, and will provide educational programs on mental health throughout the University, and especially for the Department of Athletics, and other students, as time permits. The Psychologist will maintain a range of clinical records, in keeping with the established standards for record-keeping within the counseling center. The Psychologist will make use of the Counseling Center Database (Titanium), will attend and participate in clinical/administrative meetings, as scheduled, and perform other duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
•Short-term individual and group counseling to student athletes and other students, crisis appointments both daytime and after-hours as required, and referral to off-campus therapists.
•Counseling Center meetings and weekly clinical supervision.
•Consultation with families, faculty, staff, deans, administrators, Athletic Department liaisons, and other health professionals.
•Evaluation, through interview and consultation, of students at-risk and those requesting departure and/or return from medical leave of absence.
•Mental Health Educational and Outreach programs campus-wide, and for the Athletics Department.
•Seeking and respecting supervisory consultation/input and adhering to all ethical and professional standards.
•Relating comfortably to and working collaboratively with peers in a mutually supportive setting.
•Actively participating in case conferences, psychiatric case reviews, crisis meetings, and clinical discussion.
•Flexible work schedule required. While counseling occurs within usual weekday office hours, other activities occur beyond office hours, including outreach, educational programs, and crisis intervention.
•Use of Titanium Electronic Medical Records software for case notes and scheduling.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
Completed doctorate in counseling psychology or clinical psychology
Licensed as Psychologist in Pennsylvania, or license obtained within 14 months of hire. Must maintain license earn continuing education as required by Pennsylvania law.
As Student Athlete Support Specialist, this individual must have specific knowledge of the student athlete experience, understand the culture and nature of intercollegiate athletics, and have experience providing mental health service to student athletes
Ability to establish and maintain psychoeducational programming for the athletic department
demonstrated experience providing therapy in an outpatient setting with a relatively healthy group of clients, excellent clinical skills, and insight-orientation with knowledge of psychodynamic principles
At least two years’ experience providing counseling to college students. College counseling center experience strongly preferred
Experience working with student athletes and familiarity with the culture and nature of Division I athletics programs required.
Experience providing clinical services to culturally diverse client population required.
Experience with crisis intervention and the ability to conduct risk assessments and manage potentially high risk clients required.
Ability to refer students whose treatment needs exceed the work of a college counseling center
