The Behavioral Health Specialist provides assessments, crises intervention, referrals and counseling to patients of Health First. They work to provide mental health and wellness in cross agency coalition and teams.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide individual counseling services as a Behavioral Health Specialist for individual therapy for up to 18 sessions per calendar year of diagnosis.
Engage as an active team member in an integrated behavioral health and primary care model.
Assess and treat clients with behavioral health issues, including mental health assessments and development of treatment plans.
Function as initial consultation resource of other providers of the HealthFirst team including primary care providers and nurses.
Work with community cross agency treatment and prevention teams.
Maintain a minimum of 32 clinical hours/40-hour week.
Complete pre-selected monthly trainings assigned by Behavioral Health Manager.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Masters in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Counseling, Mental Health, or Social Work, NH State Licensure required.
Additional skills:
Interpersonal: Recognizes the need for confidentiality, respects the rights of clients, and utilizes appropriate problem solving and listening techniques. Must be empathic and assertive in arranging continuing support for client when required. Must be flexible in approach and able to work with internal and external mental health teams.
Technical:
Knowledge of various testing tools, Microsoft products, and other computerized programs used to log clinical assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
Special Requirements:
Ability to function very integrally as part of an interdisciplinary team.
