What are we looking for in a School-Based Therapist? School-based Therapists work within their assigned primary or secondary schools to provide evaluations, brief treatment, and other interventions for students. Using evidence-based practices, School-based Therapists help students develop the skills needed to manage their mental health concerns more effectively. School-based therapists will coordinate with teachers, parents & families, school administration, and other service providers to ensure that each student is receiving the interventions and treatment they need. Clinical supervision and training in evidence-based practices are provided as part of this position. Prior experience working with children and adolescents is required for this role.
There are three positions available serving school districts in Yakima County. One will serve the Mt. Adams School District in White Swan; one will serve the Union Gap School District; and one will split time to serve both the Wapato School District and the Toppenish School District.
School-based Therapist duties may include:
completing mental health assessments on each referred student
providing individual & family therapy and facilitating behavioral health groups
collaborating with each student to create an individualized treatment plan
assessing students for safety and risk to self or others and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
coordinating with teachers, guidance counselors, families, school administrators, and community service providers for case management and maintaining continuity of care
thorough and timely completion of required clinical documentation
Qualifications:
Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field
Prior experience working with youth and adolescents in a professional setting
Must be eligible for registration as Agency Affiliated Counselor
Must have valid driver's license and vehicle liability insurance
